Local businesses and organizations have been supplying food to dozens of searchers and volunteers all week.
The Tamaqua Salvation Army's team of 10 staff and volunteers worked with the American Red Cross to provide meals, beverages, and spiritual support to more than 30 firefighters, police investigators, EMS crews and Farber's family members."We hope our support and prayers aid in the efforts to bring Jesse Farber safely home," said Maj. Sharon Whispell, commanding officer, in a statement issued Friday.Whispell said her organization was initially called to the scene on Thursday night to provide support to search crews and investigators for about five hours. They remained on scene Saturday at the staging area behind the Tamaqua High School, beginning at 9 a.m. and serving food and beverages generously donated from local restaurants. When the search turned into a family-organized event on Sunday, businesses once again stepped forward. One dozen hoagies, two pizzas and beverages were donated during the afternoon by Jim and Jean Secara of Lehighton, owners of Tommy's Italian Restaurant in Tamaqua. Workers at the restaurant said they were only too glad to help out and are hoping for Farber's safe return.
