Northern Lehigh school director resigns
A Northern Lehigh School director has called it quits.
On an 8-0 vote, the school board on Monday accepted the resignation of Director Natalie Green.Board President Edward Hartman read a letter of resignation Green submitted that explainedher decision.In her letter, Green wrote that she has chosen to leave the position "due to personal reasons.""While I do regret any inconvenience my resignation will cause you and the school district, these personal reasons are beyond my control," Green said. "I will do all I can to ensure that me leaving is as smooth a transition as possible."Green continued, "I have thoroughly enjoyed my time serving on the school board, and I will remember the teachers, students and colleagues fondly.""I wish you all well and thank you for your consideration," she said. "I ask that you keep the students in mind as the board moves forward."As a result, the board's intention is to have the vacancy filled within 30 days.The board will advertise and accept applications from anyone interested in the open board seat.Whomever is chosen to the vacant seat will fill the remainder of Green's term, which expires in 2017. That individual would then run in the municipal election to attempt to win a four-year seat.Green, of Walnutport, was originally appointed to the board in June 2010.Academic budgets• Approved a resolution regarding the 2016-17 Lehigh Carbon Community College Sponsor contribution budget. Total expenditures equal $6,186,337, which represents no change over the 2015-16 budget. The district's share of the total budget is $205,684, a decrease of $11,295 (5.2 percent).• Approved a resolution regarding the 2016-17 Carbon Lehigh Intermediate Unit Operational and Program Services budget. Total expenditures equal $3,134,393, an increase of $59,835 (1.9 percent) over the 2015-16 budget. The district's share is proposed to be $20,165, a decrease of $133 from the 2015-16 budget.• Approved a resolution regarding the Lehigh Career & Technical Institute general fund budget and Academic Center expenditures for the 2016-17 school year. The general fund budget total is $25,607,300, an increase of $881,600, (3.5 percent). The district portion of the 2016-17 general fund budget is $913,077, an increase of $21,252. The expenditures for the Academic Center budget for the period of July 1, 2016, through June 30, 2017, totals $1,657,500, an increase of $43,880 (2.7 percent). The district's portion is $3,432, a decrease of $8,643.
