On Feb. 10, Rep. Doyle Heffley recognized the Carbon Career & Technical Institute for achieving the highest School Performance Profile score among the 18 comprehensive career and technical schools in Pennsylvania.

Heffley and his fellow representatives introduced House Resolution No. 666 to officially honor CCTI for achieving the highest SPP score for two consecutive years. The resolution acknowledged CCTI's 2014-15 School Performance Profile Academic score of 88.4, which was a significant increase from 79.2 for the 2013-14 school year. The resolution was passed by all in attendance in the House.CCTI staff and students were invited to attend the presentation on that day, but could not make it due to inclement weather. Heffley invited a group down on an alternate date for a tour of the Capitol.Students Owen Miller, Shannon Streff, Jacob Snyder, and Bailey Wright along with staff members Gene Colosimo, Margaret Kalogerakis, Harold Resh, Kevin Kuehner and Principal Brent Borzak attended the tour on March 22. Heffley gave the group a personal guided tour from the rotunda to his office, introduced them to his colleagues, and briefed them on his role as state representative and the state government in general.On March 30, during a student assembly at CCTI, Heffley delivered the resolution to Borzak and administrative director Dave Reinbold on behalf of the entire CCTI student body and staff.Heffley presented a citation to students Amber Harvey and Miranda Green for being the first all girl team to enter and place in the Greater Lehigh Valley Auto Dealers Association Competition. Following the presentations, Heffley conducted a question-and-answer session among the students and staff.
