Joseph W. Mastrocola, a resident of Heritage Hill Senior Community in Weatherly with his wife, Rosemary, celebrated his 90th birthday on Nov. 12.

He was born and raised in Scranton. Upon graduating high school in 1943, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. Joe was assigned to the USS Colusa during World World War II and served as a pharmacists mate. After his discharge, he served in the Naval Reserve until he was recalled to active duty from 1951 to 1952 to serve in the Korean conflict.After his discharge from the Navy, Joe attended the University of Scranton and received his bachelor's degree in business. He was employed by American Hospital Supply Corporation for several years before retiring. Joe and Rosemary relocated from New Jersey to White Haven in 2001.Joe is the proud father of three children: Michael, of Phoenix, Arizona; Mary, of Bethlehem; and Joseph of Jamesburg, New Jersey. He is also "Pop Pop" to his six wonderful grandchildren who love him very much.His hobbies include: reading, watching old time movies, crossword puzzles and sharing stories of his days in the Navy.
