Schuylkill County Dairy Princess crowned

Darla Romberger, 22, daughter of William and Kathy Romberger, Pitman, was crowned the 2012-2013 Schuylkill County Dairy Princess Sunday at the Hegins Fire Company. She presented a skit and speech on the importance of dairy and the nutrition that dairy has to offer.

Also crowned were three alternate Dairy Princesses: Madeline Daubert, 19, Pine Grove, daughter of Ronald Ray and Melanie Daubert; Audrie Wolfe, 18, Pine Grove, daughter of Mark and Amy Wolfe; and Hannah Miller, 17, Tamaqua, daughter of Russel and Christine Miller.Junior representatives are chosen to help the Dairy Princess with promotions and have the potential to become dairy princess in the future.Dairy Ambassadors include: Kayla Romberger, 19, Pitman, daughter of William and Kathy Romberger; Addie Snyder, 17, Pitman, daughter of Steven and Melissa Snyder; Sarah Palerino, 14, Schuylkill Haven, daughter of Jeffrey and Kelly Palerino; Jill Heffner, 14, Pine Grove, daughter of Kent and Jodie Heffner; and Grace Daubert, 13, Pine Grove, daughter of Allen and Ann Daubert.Dairy Maids include Eva Scheitrum, 10, New Ringgold, daughter of William and Christine Scheitrum; and Allison Butler, 9, Pine Grove, daughter of Theodore and Tonya Butler. The returning Lil' Dairy Miss is Rachel Scheitrum, 8, New Ringgold, daughter of William and Christine Scheitrum.The Schuylkill County Dairy Promotion Team will promote the dairy industry during June, which is National Dairy Month, with several store promotions planned, as well as events such as the Giant Ice Cream Sundae and Milkshakes at the Capitol building in Harrisburg.Darla will travel to Elizabethtown College in July for a four-day training session, also known as Dairy Princess Boot Camp; and she will participate in the Pennsylvania State Dairy Princess Pageant in September for a chance to promote the industry on a state level."I am looking forward to the opportunity to promote the dairy industry in Schuylkill County to groups of all ages," said Darla."It is important that consumers know about the benefits of including dairy in their diet as well as the passion and dedication of dairy farmers that work hard to produce these products."To have the Schuylkill County Dairy Princess and her court attend an event, contact Victoria Daubert at (570) 345-4173 or (570) 691-4867.The Schuylkill County Dairy Promotion Committee is a nonprofit organization that works to educate consumers on the importance of a dairy rich diet.
