A campfire gathering and a supper for veterans to attend after they voted was held on the beach at Mauch Chunk Lake Park on Tuesday evening. The event was coordinated by Christine LeClair, director of Carbon County Veterans Affairs. This is the fifth year she has held such an event. She also has a campfire in May after the primary elections. About 30 veterans attended, many bringing covered dishes to supplement the food that LeClair provided. LeClair, second from left, chats with veterans, from left, Mark Strohl of Palmerton, Patty Rehrig of Coaldale and Richard Pogwist of Lansford. LeClair said the next event will be the annual Veterans Day dinner at Penn’s Peak on Nov. 11. RON GOWER/SPECIAL TO THE TIMES NEWS
