After getting a first-hand opportunity to listen to the noise generated when filling a silo with powdered cement, the Penn Forest Township supervisors voted to allow Richard Getz to bring that type of business into the township.
The building will be a masonry and building supply yard, a satellite of Getz’s main location.
The supervisors continued a conditional use hearing last month when objectors to the project requested they listen to the noise that will be created when filling a silo or truck with cement.
The hearing was continued at Getz’s Forest Inn business, where the supervisors found the noise was “no louder than a commercial truck running at a fast idle,” as described by Supervisor Josiah Behrens Jr. He and supervisors Kenneth Bond and Clark Woodring proceeded to authorize the permit.
