Tamaqua police reported on the following incidents:

• Police charged Alexander Moyer, 27, of Tamaqua, with harassment and disorderly conduct.

Moyer pushed and struck another man in the face following a verbal argument around noon Oct. 20 in the area of Pine and Union streets, according to police.

• Police charged Todd Perla, 61, of Tamaqua, with possession of a controlled substance and other offenses after he passed out in a convenience store restroom around 11:38 p.m. Oct. 21.

Police were called to the Center Street store by a clerk who said that a man named “Todd” had been in the bathroom for 30 minutes. The clerk said a woman tried to shove a broom under the door to wake him up but the woman was not there when police arrived.

Emergency responders were able to get the man, later identified as Perla, to open the door. Police said it appeared that Perla was going to pass out, a sign that is typical of being under the influence of a controlled substance.

While Perla denied possessing anything illegal, an emergency responder said that there was tinfoil, an item commonly used to inhale or smoke fentanyl, in Perla’s pocket.

Police arrested Perla for public drunkenness. Officers found a white plastic container containing two empty wax packets and wax packets with powder and residue. Police said the powder was consistent with fentanyl. Emergency responders took Perla to a hospital.

Perla was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

• Police charged Ryan Arner, 41, of Tamaqua, with public drunkenness and disorderly conduct following a 1:30 a.m. Oct. 21 incident on the 200 block of Washington Street.

Officers were called to the area for a disturbance and found Arner outside. He told police that he was having an argument with two men, and police advised him that he shouldn’t be outside causing a commotion because people were trying to sleep.

Police noted that Arner was sweating profusely, had tremors and had trouble keeping his balance. He failed field sobriety tests and was taken into custody for public drunkenness.
