Coaldale distributes handicapped stickers

Coaldale residents who have handicapped parking spaces are asked to contact borough hall if they did not get a corresponding sticker for their vehicle.

Council President Rosie Hoben said she and a borough employee recently delivered the stickers to those with handicapped spaces.

The numbered stickers, she said, are to be placed on the back windows of vehicles. The numbers match those on the handicapped signs near their residences.

“I believe there were 17 of them,” Hoben said.

Not everyone was home, she said, so those stickers were mailed.

She said anyone who did not receive their sticker should contact borough hall.

“The police are going to start enforcing that number that matches,” Hoben said.

In her report to council, she also noted that monthly meetings to plan the borough’s 200th anniversary will be put on hold until January.

“With the holidays, it might be difficult to get people to come,” she said. “People are busy with their families.”

Meetings are held at 7 p.m. on the second Thursday of each month at borough hall. All are invited.

Also during the meeting:

• It was noted that an alert system that will notify residents of road work, snow removal and more has been set up. Residents who registered for the alerts will receive them by phone.

• Winter parking restrictions are in effect from Nov. 1 to April 1. Boats, all-terrain vehicles, campers and trailers are not permitted on borough streets during that time. Those that remain will be ticketed and possibly towed.

• The borough office will be closed Nov. 3 for elections.
