Becky’s hosts annual fundraiser for Dream Come True

Last weekend, Becky’s Drive-In held its 38th annual Lehigh Township Benefit Festival and Car Show for Dream Come True — Blue Ridge Chapter.

The chapter services Carbon County, Schuylkill County, Lehigh County, Lehigh Township in Northampton County, and Monroe County, and Polk Township.

Since the chapter’s founding in 2004, it has fulfilled the dreams of more than 1,300 children with serious, chronic or terminally ill conditions.

Austin Kroboth of Antrim Motorsports was able to gather 300 baskets for a wonderful basket raffle at the event. Kroboth said, “I love giving back to Dream Come True, and helping Becky’s because they are one of my sponsors.”

The event included a trunk-or-treat, pony rides, trackless train/fire engine rides, moon bounce, face painting, a magician and multiple food stands.

Cindy Beck Deppe, co-owner of Becky’s Drive-In, said, “We had 297 vehicles in the car show. Thirteen trophies were given out. Many thanks to the volunteers and the community for their support for this worthy cause. As of this writing, Becky’s Drive-In has raised $17,929.00 for Dream Come True. We are still waiting for more donations.”

Boy Scout Troop No. 62 sold apple and peach cobbler to raise money for kids. Seated is Liam McCartney. Standing, from left, are Landyn Sklodowski, Adrian Hassold, Logan McCartney and Jake Hillegass.
Lisa Roy, left, and Kari Lessel sold plants to raise money for Dream Come True.
From left are Sydney Jones, Parker Jones, Grace Jones and Leah Barry of Northampton School. They had pumpkins for decorating and games for the kids. Each youngster got a certificate for admission into Becky’s and a Subway coupon. They said, “We really love to volunteer. It’s great to see kids happy when they get their wish.”
Steve Berger of Palmerton took a 1965 Chevrolet El Camino, which was an original milk delivery vehicle from Valley View Diary, and restored it. He purchased it in 2017. It was a total restoration of the vehicle, including a 327 engine rebuilt with new heads. Berger, a disabled veteran of the Air Force from Legion Post 304, Jim Thorpe, won the David Brown award for Wheels for Meals.
Lori Strohl of Palmerton looked years for a white 1969 Volkswagen Beetle with a 4-speed manual transmission. She has had it for 6 months and loves it. PATRICIA INGLES/SPECIAL TO THE TIMES NEWS
