State police at Fern Ridge

State police at the Fern Ridge barracks reported the following incidents:

• A robbery that occurred in July remains under investigation, police said in a report released Oct. 6.

Police responded to the robbery in progress at 2:40 p.m. July 23 at Crystal’s Mexican Restaurant, 110 Shafer Drive, Chestnuthill Township.

They said victims of the incident are two women, ages 40 and 23, and a 38-year-old man, all from Effort.

Police said a 2022 Ford Transit Connect vehicle was involved in the robbery.

• Jacqueline Setien, 30, of Blakeslee, is facing charges of providing false reports/statements to law enforcement officials after police were called to Shawnee Lane, Chestnuthill Township.

Police were called there at 10:19 a.m. Oct. 2, the said.

• Police were called to Assateaque Way, Penn Forest Township, to investigate a theft at 4:35 p.m. Oct. 1.

The victim, an 81-year-old Jim Thorpe man, told police someone stole a trolling motor valued at $50 from him during a span of a week prior to the report being made.

• A burglary that was reported at 9:04 p.m. Sept. 22 in the 400 block of Merwinsburg Road, Chestnuthill Township, is under investigation.

A 39-year-old Effort man reported someone entered the abandoned residence and stole a safe containing three firearms: a Sig Arms, a Springfield and a Glock. Each are worth $400, police said.

Also listed as a victim in the case is a 30-year-old Effort man.

• Police said a 61-year-old Jim Thorpe man was scammed out of $50,500 in a theft by deception incident they were called to at 6:40 p.m. Sept. 10 on Pinoak Drive, Penn Forest Township.

The value involves a 2024 Ford F-450 King Ranch truck, police said.

• Police were made aware of an endangering the welfare of a child situation report that was received through the state’s ChildLine system.

The incident was reported to have taken place at 2:28 p.m. July 7 on Vista Drive in Penn Forest Township and involves a 2-year-old girl from Albrightsville.

• Police were summoned to a firearms sale or transfer report at a business on Route 209 in Chestnuthill Township at 2:06 p.m. Aug. 19.

They said a suspect entered the licensed business and completed the state and federal application/record of sale paperwork that included a warning and verification that all statements contained in the paperwork are true and correct, after which the suspect was denied the same or transfer of a firearm.

• Police said they were called to a report of a male in cardiac arrest at 8:38 a.m. Aug. 10 at a property on Ziegler Road, Chestnuthill Township.

Police said a 38-year-old Allentown man was pronounced dead. They said the cause of death is undermined and the investigation of it is continuing.

• Police received a state ChildLine report of a harassment by physical contact involving a 2-year-old girl from Stroudsburg.

The report indicates the incident occurred at 11:29 a.m. June 9 at a property on Firehouse Lane, Chestnuthill Township.

• A 60-year-old woman from Nesquehoning is the victim of a theft incident police were called to at 3:22 p.m. Aug. 5 at the Family Dollar store property on Route 209 in Chestnuthill Township.

Police said she exited the store while pushing a shopping cart full of groceries and had placed her wallet on top of the cart. She told police it fell off the cart without her noticing. Police said they were told a man and women saw the wallet falling and waited for the woman to continue walking away before picking it up and going in the opposite direction.

Police said after the woman realized her wallet was gone she canvassed the parking lot and found the wallet at the edge of the lot, near Weir Lake Road. She told police about $250 in cash was taken from the wallet.

Police said the man and woman left the scene in a black SUV.
