A Coaldale man is in Schuylkill County Prison after police said he struck a man with a baseball bat just after noon on Oct. 4.
Jerome Strohl, 52, faces charges of aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, simple assault and harassment.
According to Tamaqua police, officers were called to the 100 block of Second Street in Coaldale for a disturbance.
The caller said that Strohl was threatening to shoot her dog and said he wants to “die by cops.”
Police arrived and spoke to a male victim, who said that Strohl accused him of stealing jewelry and other items, and hit him in the back of the head with a bat before fleeing.
Police observed injuries on the man.
A woman who was upstairs heard the arguing and when she went to check, Strohl swung the bat at her, police said.
While she was able to duck, Strohl grabbed her head and slammed it into a wall, according to police. She locked herself in a bathroom and called police.
Officers found Strohl, who was taken into custody without incident.
