Kidder Township conducted the following business recently:
• The supervisors learned that the Kidder Township Volunteer Fire Company plans to apply for a $160,000 Local Share Account grant to replace the roof at its substation.
The board also approved advertising an ordinance that would change volunteer stipend eligibility dates from a January-December cycle to a December-November cycle. Supervisors additionally authorized advertising for a budget workshop for 5 p.m. on Oct. 13.
Police reported handling 249 calls and making 58 arrests during September. The township also announced the hiring of Officer Johnathan Yaskiewicz, effective Oct. 24.
Also during the meeting, Rebecca Gallagher of the Pocono Association of Vacation Rental Owners introduced the organization, describing it as a trade association focused on education, networking and advocacy for short-term rental owners.
“We are looking for fair regulations and teach members what good neighbors are,” Gallagher said. “We want it to be a win-win. We’d like to change the negative view of STRs.”
The township office will be closed on Oct. 12, but trash collection will still occur.
