This year’s Zion United Church of Christ’s Annual Ecumenical Cantata will feature “All Is Well” by Dennis and Nan Allen. It will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 29, at Zion UCC, Second and Iron streets, Lehighton.

This cantata, originally purchased in 2015, was last performed in 2020 and was an outdoor, socially distanced event due to the COVID.

The Cantata books for the performance were purchased by Barry Shupp in memory of longtime Zion UCC choir member, Shirley Wentz. The orchestration was purchased by The Daughter’s of Zion who are Zion UCC’s dedicated quilting group.

The ecumenical choir brings together singers from across Carbon County and beyond, representing many Christian denominations as well as individuals without church affiliation. All students in grade 9 and above, along with adults of all ages, are warmly invited to participate. No prior experience is required — only a love of singing and a willingness to share in this joyful musical celebration.

The cantata will be accompanied by the Zion Festival Orchestra and will also feature an additional anthem (to be announced).

“All Is Well” combines a rich blend of contemporary and traditional Christmas music, including “Gloria! Medley”; “I Believe in Christmas”; “Come, Thou Long-Expected Jesus”; “Hark! the Herald Angels Sing”; “This Same God”; “O Holy Night!”; “Hope of the Nations”; “I Believe in Christmas”; “All Is Well”; “Joy Medley.”

The narration is especially moving and provides a meaningful complement to the music.

The Rehearsal Schedule is as follows: 8:30 p.m. Oct. 7; 7:30 p.m. Oct. 15; 7:30 p.m. Oct. 20; 8:30 p.m. Oct. 28; 7:30 p.m. Nov. 5; 7:30 p.m. Nov. 10’ 8:30 p.m. Nov. 18; 3 p.m. Nov. 22 (with orchestra); 7:30 p.m. Nov. 24; and 3 p.m. Nov. 29 (performance at 7:30 p.m.).

Attendance at every rehearsal is not required. Rehearsals are scheduled on a variety of days to avoid conflicts with other commitments. Practice CDs/MP3 Link will also be available.
