In honor of the heroes of 9/11, the Palmerton Hospital held an event entitled “Salute to Heroes” for police and firefighters in Carbon and Monroe counties and their families.

The event was held in the hospital’s Community Services Center on Franklin Avenue and included a picnic, musical entertainment, performances by a magician and “Dance with Kim” students, face painting for children and gifts and giveaways.

Between 25 and 30 firefighters and police officers from Palmerton, Aquashicola, Lehighton and East Penn Township attended with their families.

Helping to make the program successful were donations from Kinsley’s Family Supermarket, Strohman Bakery and Boyko Beverages.
