September 10, 1990 — Marian sweeps Schuylkill Haven 15-12, 15-6 to claim its first-ever Schuylkill League volleyball victory. The Fillies, coached by Patti Jo Matika, fall behind 11-5 in the opening game but five straight service points from Missy Logan and a kill by Katie Barnhart ties the score. Denise Stiely then registers a block to give her team the lead and delivers a kill to pull her team within one point of taking the game. After a few sideouts, Stiely eventually serves the winning point. Ann Michelle Bevich, Lee Ann Macaluso and Michelle McBride all gain aces during a 10-point run in the second game. Stiely and Macaluso provide kills for the final two points.
