State police at Bethlehem - crashes

State police at the Bethlehem barracks reported the following crashes:

• Police said Darion C. Nomie, 3, of Slatington, is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance after a one-vehicle crash at 3:19 a.m. July 21 on Old Post Road, North Whitehall Township. He was uninjured in the incident.

Police said he was driving a 2014 Subaru Impreza north when he lost control of the car, which crossed over the oncoming lanes and began to spin counterclockwise. The car struck a utility pole on the west shoulder of the road, spun a second time and came to rest blocking the southbound lane.

The engine compartment caught fire after the car hit the pole, police said. The Subaru had disabling damage and was towed from the scene.

Police said Nomie was also cited for failure to drive at a safe speed.

• Bartley E. McDermott, 68, of Allentown, was cited after a two-vehicle crash at 2:30 p.m. July 26 at the intersection of Old Post and Clearview roads, North Whitehall Township. No one was injured in the incident.

Police said he was driving a 2025 Toyota Camry that was involved in a collision with a 2008 Toyota Camry driven by Travis Shisslak, 29, of Slatington.

They said McDermott’s vehicle had disabling damage and was towed from the scene, while the Camry that Shisslak was driving had functional damage.
