Palmerton Borough Council took the following action recently:
• On a 5-1 vote, granted an alley extension for Peach Alley. Councilman Kris Hoffner was opposed. Council has indicated the full scope will include the portion of the alley that has been disturbed for the project.
• Agreed to advertise for seasonal leaf collectors at the rate of $15 an hour.
• Accepted the resignation of Carlene Andress from the zoning hearing board, thanking her for her service.
• Announced that letters of interest are being accepted for the vacancy on the zoning hearing board at borough hall until Sept. 14.
• Announced that letters of interest are still being accepted for vacancies on the Shade Tree Commission, and Property Maintenance Appeals Board.
• Approved the request for the Palmerton Municipal Fire Department to participate in the Coaldale parade at 5 p.m. Sept. 12.
• Approved the Palmerton Area Chamber of Commerce request to hold the annual Palmerton Halloween Parade on Oct. 18, with a rain date of Oct. 19.
• Announced that Trick-or-Treat night will be held in the borough from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31.
• Announced that the Airing of the Quilts has requested to change the date for next year’s event to May 15.
