Knights come to the aid of dog shelter

The Panther Valley Chapter of the Knights of Columbus had a special dog event Sunday in Ludlow Park, Summit Hill, in which they collected food and other items and raised funds for the Carbon County Animal Shelter. Individuals were encouraged to bring their dogs, which were treated to a doggie ice cream treat. Participants in the event are, from left, Art Castagnola, Rick Colancecco, Bob Colancecco, Tom Connors of the Animal Shelter, Mike Chickilly, Bob Infante, and George Mitzen. Infante, Grand Knight of the Chapter, said, “We’re proud to support the shelter.” Connors felt the event was successful saying, “It was a great morning. We got a lot of donations, a lot of dogs were given pup cups and there were some potential adoptions.” It was noted that during August, adoption fees at the shelter are half price.
