The West End Fire Company of Palmerton was commended by Palmerton Borough Council for outstanding achievements in the four-county firemen’s parade and for assisting the borough’s gypsy moth spraying program.

Councilman Peter Delich Sr., chairman of council’s fore committee, presented a plaque to the fire company officers.

The plaque acknowledges the fire company having won three first place awards during the parade held in Pen Argyl.

In addition, the award praises the firemen for their role in the spraying program. When the borough did not qualify for the county-coordinated program, West End personnel donated the snorkel and tanker trucks of the company ad used them to voluntarily spray properties in the community.
