65th PV reunion

The date for the Pleasant Valley High School first graduating class reunion has been set for Aug. 25, beginning at 4 p.m. at the Kresgeville Eatery & Bar (formerly Kresgeville Diner).

She also needs everyone’s update of their information for the booklet she is preparing.

‘Meet the Artists’

Kettle Creek Environmental Education Center will welcome Colleen Lidon and Holly Jean Studios from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.

Their show, “Into the Woods,” will be on display at the Gallery at Kettle Creek for the month of August. The gallery is open Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and will be open Saturday, and again on Aug. 15, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Community concert

Effort UMC is hosting a free community concert from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Saturday.

Vocalist Randy Blakeman will be performing acoustic and country music.

A light dinner and games for the kids will be provided. Bringing a lawn chair is suggested.

The event will be held rain or shine.

Touch-A-Truck

The Western Pocono Community Library in Brodheadsville is hosting a Touch-A-Truck event from 6-7 p.m. Thursday. The scheduled food trucks are Pocono Potato Chip, Twisted Pretzel Express and Mother Trucking Tacos & Grub. Fire, police, EMS, roadwork and construction vehicles are scheduled to be on hand.

On Friday, the Adult Art Studio will meet at 10:30 a.m., with the subject being Stitched Notebooks.

Officer installation

West End Memorial American Legion Post 927, Gilbert, will hold its officer installation ceremony at the post at 2 p.m. Sunday.

Chestnuthill meeting

The Chestnuthill Township supervisors meet the first and third Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m. at the Municipal Building, Route 715, Brodheadsville.

Fall ball deadline

Monday is the final day for West End Little League fall baseball and softball registration. Players can register at www.westendlittleleague.org.

New Monroe mission

The Fellowship of Christian Athletes is a new entity in Monroe County. FCA Monroe County serves local schools and sports programs by providing mentorship, leadership development, character building initiatives and opportunities for spiritual growth.

Shoes needed

Effort UMC announced that Bowman Park Camp needs new and gently worn used shoes. A bin has been placed in the Effort church narthex for the collection through Aug 8.

License reminder

Unsold antlerless deer licenses are available on a first come, first served basis online at HuntFishPA and at any license issuing agent.

Celebration and recognition

• Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, Brodheadsville, will celebrate its VBS closing from noon to 2 p.m. Friday.

• College students from Our Lady Queen of Peace headed back to school will be recognized with a blessing and a special treat by the church at Masses on Saturday and Sunday.

WPWC meeting

The Western Pocono Women’s Club has changed its August meeting to 7 p.m. Aug. 10 due to the upcoming West End Fair.

New office hours

There has been a change in Effort UMC’s office hours. Those hours are now 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. The church will resume a regular work schedule after Labor Day.

PVEN service area

The Pleasant Valley Ecumenical Network offers many services to those affected by financial difficulties, including help with food, clothing, personal supplies and certain educational needs.

Pantry needs

Effort UMC’s food pantry can use donations of cereal, granola bars, canned goods, juice boxes, snacks, lunch items or any nonperishable item.

Summer bog walks

The Monroe County Conservation District’s Kettle Creek Environmental Education Center guided weekly Tannersville Bog Walks for summer are underway Wednesdays through Sept. 9. There is a cost.

The two-hour walks begin at 10 a.m. and are conducted by an environmental educator. Participants can learn about how the bog was formed and about its plant and animal life.

Electronic sign-in

The West End Food Pantry, Kunkletown, has announced that it will begin using a new electronic sign-in system.

Contemporary music

St. Peter’s UMC will host evening Contemporary Worship Services at 7 p.m. Aug. 22 and Sept. 26. The church is located at 924 Route 115, Saylorsburg.

The service will include praise, music, dance and a message of hope. Youths, young families and couples are all welcome.

Snow removal bids

Effort UMC Trustees are looking for bids for the 2026-27 season of snow removal.

Anyone interested is asked to contact the church office at 570-992-1890 for the specifications and additional information.

All proposals will be submitted to the trustees by the Sept. 14 meeting.
