The Carbon County Community Festival was rewarded with perfect weather Sunday, after the event was postponed for Saturday.

“This is our second year for the festival,” said Kylie Adams-Weiss, Senior Vice President of the Carbon County Chamber & Economic Development. “We say we’re a chamber of commerce; but, we’re also a chamber of communities. We want to make sure that we have a community presence. Having events like this, for the residents of Carbon County and surrounding areas, it’s to get them out, have something fun to do on a weekend, and support the local area.”

Musical entertainment featured Brian Kidd from noon to 2:30 p.m., playing electric guitars and electric cellos, and Gone Country from 3:30 to 6 p.m., both on stage in the lower park.

One of the other bands that was scheduled for Saturday, Bad Influence, was not available to perform Sunday. Instead, they will perform Aug. 2 for the Lehighton Park & Recreation Committee at the amphitheater.

There was plenty of delicious food and drink in front of the municipal building. From delicious barbecue by Digger’s Bar-B-Q, fresh squeezed lemonade by Sunny Sips, ice cream and Italian ice treats by Uncle Louie G, and mini pancakes with special toppings by the Easton Treatery.

Bethanny Ariel and her sister, Jennifer, both from Palmerton, were enjoying the fresh-squeezed lemonade from Sunny Sips.

“It’s really good!” exclaimed Bethanny.

Jennifer agreed, continuing to sip her drink as they walked along the Lehighton park, looking at the tents along the path.

The Easton Wine Project and Silverback Distillery offered a place to purchase and drink wine and other adult drinks.

Other exhibitors and vendors included the Lehighton Rotary Club, First Commonwealth Federal Credit Union, Love & Blessings Heart Tie Dye Shirts, Wick It Candle Bar, Sweet & Dirty Mixers, Victims Research Center, Jack Frost Big Boulder Ski Areas Inc., Lehighton Ambulance, Bang Cookies.

Also at the festival was LV Rocks LLC, which featured a mobile rock climbing wall and bungee trampoline.

“Something new we’re doing is Lehighton Shop Local Trail, where we’re trying to engage the business on First Street. It’s a free event; people pick up passports at the chamber booth, and take them around to participating businesses. If they complete their passport, they are entered in a chance to win prizes from the area businesses.”
