State police at Lehighton charged William Dalrymple, 42, of Bangor, with burglary and other offenses after he went inside an unoccupied home in Ross Township.

Troopers were called by the homeowner who said a neighbor reported seeing a man at her residence the evening of July 11. She said no one was to be at the home, and that she was on vacation.

Police went to the address and found Dalrymple on the front porch. He claimed that a woman gave him permission to stay at the residence.

The owner said it was not true, and Dalrymple was taken into custody. Troopers said Dalrymple told them that he had methamphetamine in his pocket.

Troopers also charged Dalrymple with criminal trespass, use/possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance. He was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Daniel Kresge and committed to the Monroe County Prison in lieu of $75,000 cash bail.
