Lehigh Valley Zoo, Just Be You Academy hosts children’s festival

Celebrate the fifth birthday of the Just Be You Children’s Festival on Friday from noon to 3 p.m. at the Lehigh Valley Zoo.

Children and families will enjoy a day packed with creativity and exploration.

The rain date for the event is July 24.

The festival is hosted by the nonprofit organization Just Be You Academy & Performing Arts Conservatory and co-hosted by the Lehigh Valley Zoo, which sits on 29-acres and is home to dozens of species from around the world.

“The Just Be You Children’s Festival is very proud to partner with the Lehigh Valley to celebrate our fifth birthday because we share similar values to provide enriching and meaningful engagement for children and families,” said Mahogany Reynolds-Clarke, the founder and artistic director of the Just Be You Children’s Festival. “JBY’s devotion to empowering today’s youth to embrace their uniqueness and learn about the world we share pairs well with the vision of the Lehigh Valley Zoo.”

Activities for the Just Be You Children’s Festival will include: arts, crafts and animals art gallery activities; animal trivia game show and puppet show; animals art gallery show-and-tell ceremony; and an animal-themed dance party with fun dancing games.

All ages are welcome to attend.

Admission to the zoo is discounted for those attending the festival. Attendees must visit the festival’s website to obtain the discounted tickets promotional code and instructions: www.justbeyouchildrensfestival.com.

They can also find that information on the festival’s Facebook page: Just Be You Children’s Festival.

“I created this festival to give kids a safe space to be themselves and celebrate their uniqueness,” Reynolds-Clarke said. “Teaching them about the lovely Lehigh Valley Zoo animals in a fun setting is the icing on the cake.”

Just Be You Academy & Performing Arts Conservatory is asking attendees to make a donation to the nonprofit upon attending the festival. The organization uses the donations to provide traveling arts education and cultural enrichment throughout the Lehigh Valley to underprivileged youth.
