Turnpike crashes

State police at the Pocono barracks reported the following crashes that occurred on the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike:

• Matthew P. Santarelli, 38, of Mountain Top, was cited after a two-vehicle crash at 12:57 p.m. July 2 at mile marker 92.5 in Kidder Township. No one was injured in the incident.

Police said he was driving a 2024 Toyota RAV4 northbound when he changed lanes without having proper clearance and the RAV4 hit a 2025 Ford Explorer driven by Peter W. Grella, 41, of White Haven.

Police said both vehicles had minor damage and were able to be driven from the scene.

• Oscar Fernandez Torres, 32, of Reading, was uninjured in a one-vehicle crash at 5:01 p.m. June 29 at mile marker 73.9 in Mahoning Township.

Police said he was driving a 2014 Freightliner southbound when an issue with a left side tire on the truck resulted in it hitting the guide rail.

• Two vehicles were damaged in a collision at 6:05 p.m. July 5 just north of the Lehigh Tunnel in Washington Township.

Police said a 1997 Dodge Ram 3500 hit a 2025 Toyota 4Runner, causing moderate damage to the striking vehicle and minor damage to the 4Runner.

The drivers of the vehicles were not identified. Police said the operator of the Ram truck was cited for following too closely.

• Cody M. Gurka, 26, of Levittown, was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed following a one-vehicle crash at 9:54 p.m. July 4 at mile marker 78.8 in Franklin Township. He was uninjured in the crash.

Police said he was driving a 2006 Toyota Camry southbound when he lost control of it and the car struck the guide rail with its front, turned left and then hit the concrete barrier with its front-end. The car was towed from the scene.
