The newly named Daniel Henry Lesher Pavilion was dedicated Sunday evening in a special ceremony honoring its completion at the Phifer Ice Dam Park in Franklin Township.
Lions Club President Tom Zellner provided a detailed overview about the pavilion project. Among those attending was Nelson Phifer, a grandson of the honoree, who spoke about his recollections of the area he still fondly refers to as “over home.”
He told the audience, “My grandparents were simple, hardworking folks who were community-minded. I think they’d be extremely pleased with all that’s been done to date and all that’s been planned for the future.”
Participants included Lions past president Elden Lorah, township Supervisor Ronald Solt and Joseph Nester, former township grant coordinator who gave an overview of the Phifer project.
