Fourth annual Bowmanstown Block Party ready for Saturday

The fourth annual Bowmanstown Block Party will be held from 1-9 p.m. Saturday on and around the Bowmanstown Volunteer Fire Company grounds.

Admission is free, according to event cochair Rodney Reeser, a trustee with the fire company who also serves as vice president of Bowmanstown Area Residents Connected.

Sponsored by the Bowmanstown Volunteer Fire Company, Bowmanstown/Parryville Lions Club and Bowmanstown Area Residents Connected, the event has fun for the whole family, Reeser said.

He said activities will include free entertainment, food and drinks for purchase, kids activities, vendors and an information booth, along with a beer garden in the grove.

Reeser said there will be a cornhole tournament, sign-up starting at 1 p.m. a basket raffle in the engine room from 1-7 p.m., and bingo in the social hall from 3-6 p.m.

He said bands that will perform are Troubled Wine from 1-3 p.m., Big Bone Daddy from 3:30-6 p.m., and Mixed Bagg from 6:30-9 p.m. There will also be a DJ in the fire company after the bands are finished.

Reeser said food vendors will consist of Phil’s French Fries, Woods Ice Cream, Grumpy’s BBQ, Bowmanstown/Parryville Lions Club, Saint John’s Church, Lorrahs Shrimp and More, and Rachel’s Cake Corner.

He added there will be craft vendors and an information table.

Reeser said there will be several activities for children, such as bringing a white T-shirt to the art station to decorate and celebrate red, white and blue; a free snack for the kids while supplies last at 2 p.m., Uncle Sam decoration at 3 p.m., freeze pops while they last at 4 p.m.; snack for the kids at 5 p.m., and stone art at 6 p.m. During any down time, stop in to make a friendship bracelet.

“We are hoping everyone has a great day out, while the three nonprofits raise money to help them help the community,” he said. “Come out and have some fun.”
