Mahoning seeks solicitor applications by July 13

Mahoning Township seeks sealed proposals from qualified attorneys and law firms to provide general municipal legal services.

To apply for the position, submit seven copies of their proposal in a sealed envelope marked “Township Attorney Proposal” to the township administration office by 3 p.m. on July 13.

The appointed township solicitor will advise the board of supervisors, attend public meetings, draft ordinances, and represent the municipality in legal matters, with a focus on municipal law, zoning, land use, and labor negotiations.

Proposals must include firm history, areas of specialty, and size; resumes of the lead attorney and assigned staff, specifically detailing municipal law experience; a fee structure (hourly rates of proposed retainer); and at least three professional references, ideally from Pennsylvania municipal clients.

Last month, supervisors agreed to advertise to receive RFPs for township solicitor.

Tom Nanovic has served as the township’s solicitor for many years.
