Marian announces campus upgrades
Marian Catholic High School took an exciting step toward its future during the Spring Meeting of the Board of Directors, as representatives from Alloy5 Architects presented the completed Campus Master Facilities Plan — a bold and visionary roadmap designed to strengthen and transform the Marian campus for generations to come.
Representing Alloy5 at the presentation were Michelle Mozingo and Michael Stauffer, a Marian graduate from the Class of 2010 who has served as project leader throughout the planning process. The comprehensive plan reflects months of collaboration among school leadership, the Board of Directors, the Facilities Committee, Facilities Consultant Bob Barton, alumni, parents, students, faculty, and community stakeholders.
The Campus Master Plan identifies critical priorities centered on campus safety, modernization, student wellness, creative expression, and long-term sustainability — all while preserving the faith-filled, family-centered spirit that defines Marian Catholic.
“This is one of the most exciting and important moments in the recent history of Marian,” said the Rev. Robert Finlan. “For more than seventy years, Marian has formed young men and women in faith, academic excellence, leadership, and service. This Campus Master Plan gives us a clear and inspiring vision for how our facilities can match the excellence of our mission. We are building not simply for today’s students, but for future generations of the Marian Family.
Campus renovations,
facility improvements
The plan calls for significant investment in renovations to Marian’s existing school building and athletic facilities, addressing deferred maintenance while modernizing classrooms and shared spaces. Proposed improvements include upgraded HVAC systems, enhanced technology infrastructure, ADA accessibility compliance, safety and security upgrades, and restoration of important architectural features throughout the campus.
“These improvements are about far more than buildings,” said Board Chair Dave Bielen ‘69. “They represent our commitment to providing students with a safe, welcoming, and innovative learning environment rooted in Catholic values. The Board of Directors is grateful for the incredible work of Alloy5 and our Facilities Committee in developing a plan that positions Marian for long-term success.”
Master plan initiatives
Guided by the completed master plan, Marian will focus their planning on six transformational campus initiatives:
• Secure campus entry — A redesigned main entrance and administrative suite will provide a more secure, controlled, and welcoming entry point for students and visitors.
• Modern learning commons and shared spaces — Flexible, technology-enabled learning environments will encourage collaboration, creativity, and student engagement.
• Performing arts and creative spaces — Expanded and enhanced facilities for music, theater, and visual arts will allow students to explore and develop their creative talents.
• Athletic facilities and student wellness — New athletic annex spaces and upgraded facilities will support student wellness, teamwork, and school spirit while also increasing opportunities for community use.
• Stadium and infrastructure improvements — Enhancements to the stadium, including turf, track, and lighting upgrades, will improve safety and the overall student-athlete experience.
• Campus infrastructure and support facilities — Additional storage and maintenance facilities will strengthen operational efficiency and protect Marian’s long-term investments.
Facilities Chairman Jim Sauka ’66 praised the collaborative spirit behind the initiative. “This master plan reflects countless hours of discussion, research, and thoughtful planning by many dedicated members of the Marian Family,” Sauka said. “We wanted to create a vision that honors Marian’s proud traditions while boldly preparing for the future. The result is a plan that strengthens every aspect of campus life — academically, spiritually, artistically, athletically, and socially.”
The presentation also highlighted the importance of having a Marian alumnus helping lead the project. “It has been especially meaningful to have Michael Stauffer, a member of the Class of 2010, helping guide this effort,” Finlan added. “Michael understands the Marian experience firsthand, and his passion for this school has been evident throughout the entire planning process.”
The completion of the Campus Master Plan marks a major milestone as Marian continues to position itself for the next chapter in its storied history. School leadership indicated that the plan will help guide future fundraising efforts and phased campus improvements in the years ahead.
