Nesquehoning adds code officer

Nesquehoning narrowly approved adding a second firm to work as a code enforcement officer as needed.

During council’s monthly meeting on Wednesday, the board, in two 3-2 votes, approved Hometown Municipal Services LLC as a consultant, as well as an additional UCC and code enforcement for the borough. Council members Lisa Shubeck and Josh Jacobs cast no votes; while council members Bruce Nalesnik and Suzanne Smith were absent. Voting in favor of the actions were council members Lois Kuba, Paul Kattner and William Bamford.

Hometown Municipal Services is owned by Bill McMullen, who had worked for ARRO Engineers, the borough’s other code enforcement officer, but had branched out for more flexibility.

Kuba said that this motion now gives people two entities when it is needed.
