State police at Lehighton - crashes

State police at the Lehighton barracks reported the following crashes:

• Five people were injured in a two-vehicle crash at 2:35 p.m. June 20 at the intersection of Route 115 and Meixsell Valley Road, Ross Township.

Police said they were taken to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Pocono Campus, East Stroudsburg, by personnel from the Lehigh Valley Health Network EMS corps, St. Luke’s Emergency and Transport Services and Wind Gap Ambulance Corps.

Police said Steven A. Rohner, 40, of Weatherly, the driver of one of the vehicles, had suspected minor injuries, while two 8-year-old boys, also from Weatherly and who were passengers with Rohner, had possible injuries.

Police said the driver of the other vehicle, Ryan M. Ojeda, 40, of Effort, had minor injuries, while his passenger, a 9-year-old boy from Effort, had possible injuries.

Police said the crash occurred when Rohner was driving a 2019 Subaru Impreza and stopped at the intersection, then proceeded into the intersection without proper clearance. They said the Subaru hit a 2022 Mitsubishi Mirage driven south on Route 115 by Ojeda.

Both vehicles had disabling damage and were towed from the scene.

Rohner was cited after the crash, according to police.

• John Schofield, 34, of Philadelphia, was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed after a one-vehicle crash at 4:42 p.m. June 20 on Forest Inn Road, Lower Towamensing Township.

Police said he was driving a 2004 Lincoln Navigator when he lost control of it while negotiating a left curve in the road. The vehicle began to spin in the curve and struck an embankment before rolling over. It was towed from the scene.

Police said Schofield was uninjured, but a passenger, Amanda J. Schofield, 37, of Lehighton, sustained injuries, the severity of which police said are unknown, and was transported by personnel from the Palmerton Community Ambulance Association to the St. Luke’s Hospital, Carbon Campus, Franklin Township.

• Joseph D’Andrea, 34, of Dallas, was uninjured after a two-vehicle crash at 10:54 a.m. June 19 on Delaware Avenue, Palmerton.

Police said he was driving a 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe, which is a Pennsylvania Game Commission vehicle, and was backing out of a parking space when the vehicle hit a parked and unoccupied 2012 Kia Optima.

Both vehicles had minor damage, police said.
