State police at Lehighton - crashes

State police at the Lehighton barracks reported the following crashes:

• Alfred S. Weston, 80, of Mountain Top, was treated after a three-vehicle crash at 3:09 p.m. June 8 on Carney Road, Polk Township.

Police said he was transported by personnel from the West End Ambulance Service to the St. Luke’s Hospital, Carbon Campus, Franklin Township.

They said the crash occurred when a 17-year-old boy from Palmerton was driving a 2008 Ford F-150 that struck the back of the 2004 Ford F-250 driven by Jonath Cancel-Rodriguez, 41, of East Stroudsburg, after the latter had slowed down for the 2021 Lexus ES350 driven by Weston to make a turn. The F-250 then struck the Lexus.

Police said the F-150 had heavy front-end damage and was towed from the scene, while the F-250 and the Lexus had minor damage.

The Palmerton teen was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed, according to police.

• Police said the driver of a 2008 Subaru Forester that struck a utility pole on the north shoulder of Kunkletown Road in Eldred Township fled the scene.

The crash occurred at 9:54 a.m. May 28, resulting in the vehicle becoming disabled.
