State police at Lehighton
State police at the Lehighton barracks reported the following incidents:
• Calvin Hewey, 48, of Weissport, was arrested for driving a vehicle with a suspended license due to a driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance conviction after a traffic stop police made at 1:47 p.m. June 7 at the intersection of Strohl’s Valley Road and Homestead Lane, Towamensing Township.
Police, who reported that he was driving a 2017 GMC Terrain, said they later learned that Hewey had numerous convictions for the same offense.
• A 60-year-old Palmerton man is the victim of a criminal mischief incident police responded to on Little Gap Road, Lower Towamensing Township.
He told police that a window, door and siding on his residence had been damaged between noon May 6 and 6:05 p.m. June 8.
The damage was estimated at $500, police said.
• A 70-year-old Lehighton woman is the victim of a theft by deception/fraud incident police were called to at 10:32 a.m. June 9 on Laurel View Drive, Towamensing Township.
Police said she had $19,479 stolen from her in cash and Apple gift cards.
• William Kurtz, 50, of Jim Thorpe, was cited for disorderly conduct following a verbal dispute at 2:31 p.m. June 17.
It occurred on Bearview Drive, Penn Forest Township. Police did not provide any other information on the incident.
• A 37-year-old Lehighton woman is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol after police made a traffic stop at 2:38 a.m. June 20.
She was stopped in a 2023 Chevrolet Trail Blazer for a Motor Vehicle Code violation on Franklin Drive, Franklin Township.
