Tamaqua Area School Board - Personnel
The Tamaqua Area School Board recently hired three more teachers as it continues to round out staff for 2026-27.
The board approved hiring Sophia Boyle, of Brockton, as an elementary Title I mathematics teacher; Hailee Levonas of Pottsville, math teacher; and Ashley Helper, of Ringtown, as elementary teacher. All at salaries of $50,221.
The board also rescinded a motion approving Ashley Pleban as an elementary teacher, and appointed Edward Titus as assistant athlete director at a stipend of $2,000.
Other personnel moves included:
• Appointing Raymond Kunkel, of Tamaqua, as grounds and activities lead and Michael Kunkel, of Tamaqua, as utility lead, both at stipends to be determined.
• Terminating Caryn Matz as a full-time custodian, effective June 16.
• Approving family medical leave for Debra Skripnek beginning on or about June 3, and for Amanda Woodring, intermittent leave in the 2026-27 school year.
• Rescinding motions approving Samantha Bubel and Kaitlyn Herling as high school assistant band front director and band front adviser, respectively.
• Appointing these high school band roles: Jame Lobb as assistant band director; S. Bubel as band front adviser; Hannah Murphy as assistant front volunteer; and K. Herling, band volunteer.
• Appointing these drama club volunteers: John Buglio, Sugarloaf; Ruth Gardiner, Summit Hill; Greg Semanco, Auburn; and Chris Kerestus, Heather Kerestus, Kylie Lehatto, Lauri Miller, Caitlin Miller, Brenden Bugge and Kipp Tonkin, all of Tamaqua.
• Accepting the resignation of Kailee Kelly, a Tamaqua Elementary teacher, effective Aug. 16.
• Approving these substitute teachers: Alicia Murphy and Megan Frantz, both of Tamaqua; and Frank Wenzel, of New Ringgold.
• Approved these mentors: Frank Dickman, Leah Gallagher and Adriane Drum.
