PSP reports 843 crashes, 399 DUI arrests over holiday

Pennsylvania State Police released the results of the agency’s statewide Memorial Day Weekend enforcement detail.

During the four days between May 22 and 25, state police investigated 843 crashes that resulted in 129 injuries and five fatalities.

Intoxicated driving was a factor in 59 of those crashes, two of which were fatal.

Police arrested 399 motorists for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and issued 26,871 citations, including 6,519 for speeding; 1,074 for failure to wear a seat belt; and 110 for not having children safely secured in safety seats.

The 2026 holiday statistics are as follows (2025 totals in parentheses for comparison):

Crash statistics — total crashes, 843 (750); fatal crashes, 5 (7); persons killed, 5 (9); persons injured, 129 (134); and DUI-related crashes, 59 (56).

Enforcement statistics — DUI arrests, 399 (519); speeding citations, 6,519 (7,126); child seat citations, 110 (167); and seat belt citations, 1,074 (1,029).
