Palmerton Area School District’s board of directors approved a series of personnel moves Tuesday night, including:

• Accepted the resignation of Sharon Westermann, third grade teacher at S.S. Palmer Elementary, effective Aug. 4. She is retiring after 29 years with the district.

The following people were hired:

• Sarah Zaborowski, art teacher at S.S. Palmer Elementary/Parkside Education Center, Master’s Step 1, $56,890.

• Brandy Welk, second grade teacher at Towamensing Elementary, Master’s Step 2, $57,440.

• Savana Serfass, first grade teacher at Parkside Education Center, Bachelor’s Step 1, $55,000.

• Kristen Gemmel, sixth grade teacher at S.S. Palmer Elementary, Master’s Step 3, $57,940.

• Karissa Nenscel, kindergarten teacher at Towamensing Elementary, Master’s Step 4, $58,440.

• Trisha Buck, instructional assistant at Towamensing Elementary, $19.19 per hour, effective Aug. 18.
