Police in Monroe County are investigating the murder of a Tobyhanna man who was shot in the head in a home in Tobyhanna.

Layzon Breland, 26, was found dead Thursday night inside a residence at 123 Chelsea Circle, Tobyhanna, according to Chief Chris Wagner of the Pocono Mountain Regional Police Department.

He said officers were called there at 7:52 for a report of gunshot wound, and as officers were en route they received a second report that witnesses observed a man running from the home and fleeing from the scene in a vehicle.

Wagner said the early investigative information officers gathered indicate an altercation started in the yard and a fight ensued. He said the fight moved into the residence where gunfire erupted.

Wagner said it is not believed there is an existing threat to the public.
