The Monroe County commissioners recognized the accomplishment of a local volunteer and herleders numerous hours of volunteer service during their meeting on Wednesday.

A member of the Monroe County Conservation District, Commissioner Sharon Laverdure presented Carolyn Lange with a certificate of special recognition for her volunteer service and for becoming a master watershed steward.

The certificate, which Laverdure read, stated that Lange reached “the milestone of 1,000 hours of volunteer service within Monroe County working to improve the health of our streams, rivers and other natural resources. Congratulations on the achievement of master watershed steward.”

At both meetings in June, the Monroe County commissioners also recognized the contributions of various other people, and the special occasions and milestones of businesses and their staff. They were not present at the meetings to receive the certificates.

They include:

• Lisa Eick — For 40 years as director of the Growing Place Child Care Centers.

• Growing Place Child Care Centers — For 50 years in operation.

• Pocono Chamber of Commerce — Grand opening of new office at 112 Washington St., East Stroudsburg, from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 23.

• Earned the Eagle Scout award — Alexsander Tsyganov Lamberton, Chase Lentz, Nicolas Petroff.

• Former Monroe County District Attorney E. David Christine Jr. received the Liberty Bell Award, which was formally presented during the June 2026 Monroe County Commissioners’ Meeting.

The award recognizes individuals who promote a better understanding of the rule of law, encourage respect for the law and courts, stimulate civic responsibility, and contribute to good government. It was given in conjunction with the county’s Law Day and America250PA initiatives.

• Artists that participated in the America250PA Keystone Art Initiative — Gary Embich, Nancy Embich, Cindy Lou Morris, Bernadette Sabatini, Linda Stockman-Connors, Aida Weinstein, Jowell Mauras Bidot, Isabella Cubeta, Taylynn Davis, Vivian Hayden, Payton Hoop, Giana Law, Cotoria McCarthy, Mia Meier, Haley Meinweiser, Madalyn Minchhoff, Shary Naranjo, Thomas Nieman, Jillian Pratt, Hannah Rak, and Adrianna Rulevas.
