Walnutport Borough Council took the following action on Thursday:
• Agreed to keep open to sponsor a full-time police officer through the police academy, if needed.
• Granted final approval for the Green Street settlement, which calls for Green Street to become a one-way street, calls for $2,000 just compensation for the piece of property taken for the property, and a $4,000 payment for legal fees for the taking of the property.
• Agreed to advertise a playground ordinance that states dogs, motorized scooters, motorized bicycles, roller blades and skateboards are prohibited at all times.
• Appointed Rod Hatcher to the Vacancy Board, as well as to the UCC Appeals Board.
• Tabled the removal of several trees in front of the borough municipal building.
• Approved a request for Lucas Fenstermaker, Life Scout, Boy Scout Troop 62 of Berlinsville, to do his Eagle Scout project at the Walnutport Canal.
• Announced that Coffee With A Cop will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on June 27 at the McDonald’s in Walnutport. Proceeds raised will go to the fire victims on Williams Avenue.
