The Jim Thorpe Area Sports Hall of Fame will be hosting a family style rafting event on Saturday, June 27. The event will be held on the Lehigh River with Pocono Whitewater, and will travel from Jim Thorpe to Bowmanstown. It’s complete with a BBQ lunch, all for $25. All proceeds from the event will go to the JTSHOF (Jim Thorpe Sports Hall of Fame) which includes four scholarships, which are awarded every May to graduating seniors at Jim Thorpe Area High School. To make a reservation, call Pocono Whitewater at 570-325-3655, and mention the Jim Thorpe Hall of Fame. The trip will include eight miles of whitewater rafting, an all-you-can-eat barbeque lunch (hot dogs, fruit, potato salad, chips, lemonade, and water), professional river guides, all necessary equipment, and shuttles to/from the river.
