June 9, 1948 — Louie Huber pitches a one-hit shutout to lead Mauch Chunk to a 6-0 Tri-County League victory over visiting Lehighton. Huber allows a lone single up the middle to Billy Kunkle in the seventh inning to spoil the no-hit bid. The MC hurler strikes out seven in his nine innings of work, giving up just one walk while also hitting a batter. Fritzie Watto supplies some offensive support with a triple and two runs, while Bert Steidle adds a hit and a run. Huber also helps his own cause with a double.
