Driver charged with injuring couple
An Albrightsville woman who was driving without a license has been charged with injuring a couple in a crash in Polk Township.
According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by Trooper Salvador Melo in the case against Sacha Rodriguez-Amador:
Around 1:28 p.m. Feb. 5, Melo was on patrol in a marked state police unit when he came upon a crash at the intersection of Interchange Road and HTY Road.
Melo then began a crash investigation.
While conducting the investigation, Melo spoke to Rodriguez-Amador, 37, who was the at-fault driver of the crash and related that she did not have a license.
A query of Rodriguez-Amador showed that she only had a Pennsylvania Photo Identification card and that her driving privileges were suspended.
While speaking with the occupants of the second vehicle, a couple showed signs of being injured and were transported to a hospital for treatment.
Rodriguez-Amador was taken into custody for a vehicle code violation, was processed and released.
A follow-up interview was conducted with the victims, who provided paperwork that showed the female victim sustained multiple fractured ribs, a hematoma of the left chest wall and a hematoma of the right lower leg. The male victim sustained multiple fractured ribs and a fractured breastbone.
Rodriguez Amador faces charges of accidents involving death or injury while not licensed, driving while operating privilege suspended or revoked, and duties at a stop sign.
She is currently free in lieu of $10,000 unsecured bail. A formal arraignment is scheduled for July 27 before Judge Jennifer Harlacher Sibum of Stroudsburg.
