Carbon Hall of Fame inducts 25

The Carbon County Hall of Sports Hall of Fame committee held its 2026 induction dinner and program on Sunday, May 24, at the Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Company hall.
The ceremony honored 25 inductees from six Carbon County communities, and Coaldale and Tamaqua, who were selected for the honor by committees representing each of the towns.
Among the newest inductees in the Carbon County Hall of Fame are, front, from left, John Steber, Janine Hammond, representing her late father, John Hackash, both representing Lansford, Trevor Lawrence, representing Victor Koshuta, Summit Hill, and Bill Richards, representing his son Ryan, and Mike Makovec, both of Nesquehoning; and back, Mark Makovec and Mike Lopata, Nesquehoning, Jake Figner, Lansford inductee, and Edward Shober and Fred Cinicola, Summit Hill.
Athletes installed in the Carbon County Hall of Fame during festivities last Sunday at the Franklin Township Fire Company hall included, front, from left, Emma Kuczynski, Amber Carroll and Brayden Knoblauch, all of Tamaqua, and Brenda Roberts and Cindy Roberts, representing husbands Darryl and Geno Roberts, respectively, Palmerton inductees, and back, same order, Dave Reese and Walt Schlenner, both of Jim Thorpe, Ricky Kirkendall and Glenn Neff, both of Lehighton, and Jerry Snyder, Palmerton. Also inducted from Jim Thorpe was Joe Rader.
