State police at Hazleton - crashes

State police at the Hazleton barracks reported the following crashes:

• The driver of a 2026 Nissan Pathfinder that struck a deer at 5:26 a.m. May 20 was uninjured.

Police said the vehicle was northbound on South Lehigh Gorge Drive, Lehigh Township, when the incident occurred.

The driver was not identified. The vehicle was able to be driven from the scene.

• No one was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 3:01 p.m. May 13 on Interstate 81 southbound in Hazle Township.

Police said the crash occurred when Mason D. Spangler, 33, of Lehighton, was driving a 1999 Ford F-150 that exited the interstate, traveled onto a ramp and hit the rear of a 2020 Kenworth driven by Travis J. Mumaw, 27, of Weatherly.

Police said the F-150 had front end damage and was towed from the scene.

Spangler was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed, according to police.

• Jordanis Rosario Santos, 34, of Beaver Meadows, was involved in a one-vehicle crash at 2:03 a.m. May 4 on Club 40 Road, Hazle Township.

Police said he was driving a 2017 Mercedes-Benz C300 east when the car left the road and hit a tree on the left shoulder of the road.

Police said Rosario Santos, who refused an emergency medical services transport from the scene, was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed.

• Kolton Bubnis, 22, of Mahanoy City, was treated after a two-vehicle crash at 3:36 p.m. May 3 on Interstate 80 in Black Creek Township.

Police said he was transported by personnel from Valley Regional Fire and Rescue Squad to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Hazleton.

They said the crash occurred as he was driving a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado eastbound and lost control on a left curve and hit the back of a 2020 Kenworth tractor-trailer driven by Carlos C. Garcia, 29, of Bakersfield, California.

Police said the Silverado was towed from the scene.

Bubnis was charged with driving under the influence and cited for failure to drive at a safe speed, police said.
