May 27, 1961 — Lansford receives strong pitching performances to earn wins in two games, defeating Marian 9-3 in a morning contest and rolling past Summit Hill 16-0 in the afternoon. George Neyer pitches a five-hitter in the first game and keeps the Colts scoreless for the first five frames. Gene Kozack collects three hits and knocks in two runs for the Panthers, coached by Dick Forster. In the second game, Dave Malkin tosses a one-hit shutout in his first start of the season and contributes two hits on offense. John Zubek, who collects three RBIs against Marian, also knocks in three against the Hillers with a three-run triple.
