May 21, 2002 — Erin Healy pitches a one-hit shutout in leading Pleasant Valley to a 2-0 victory over Pottsville in the opening round of the District 11 Class 3A softball tournament. Healy allows a leadoff single to Shana Briel and then doesn’t allow another hit the rest of the way. The Bears’ hurler strikes out 13 and doesn’t allow a walk in helping her team, coached by Steve Caffrey, advance to the next round. Healy also excels at the plate, delivering an RBI single that scores Jamie Bremen in the home first and adding a hit in the third when PV scores its other run.
