Lucy Minnick of Weatherly is celebrating her 90th birthday this week.

She was born May 21, 1936, and is the daughter of the late Clarence and Irene (Walton) Carter.

Lucy grew up in White Haven and graduated from White Haven High School.

She is retired from the housekeeping staff at the Weatherly Area Elementary/Middle School.

Lucy was married to George Minnick for 59 years until his death in 2015.

She is the mother of three sons, Ken and wife Mary Rose, Weatherly; Chris and wife Lila, Danville, Va.; and Kyle and wife Sarah, Weatherly. She also has six grandchildren who lovingly call her “Grammy,” Kenny and wife Crystal; Kasey and husband Curt Matyjasik; Austin and fiancée Rachel Hertz; Christian, who is stationed with the Army in Guam and wife Emily; Carter and Rylee; and three great-grandchildren, Maverick, Moxie and Maddox Minnick.

Lucy has a brother, Fred Carter, in Sumter, South Carolina; a sister, Shirley Drozic, White Haven; and many nieces and nephews.

Lucy enjoys spending time with the family, getting her hair done with her niece Jean; going shopping with nieces Nannette and Nadine; eating out; doing puzzles and word finds; and watching game shows. She also fits in her favorite soaps, “The Young and the Restless” and “The Bold and the Beautiful.”

Family will gather to celebrate Lucy’s birthday.
