Mrs. Justine Sachon of Third Street, Coaldale, was chosen “Mother of the Year” at the annual Mother’s Day dinner hosted by the Ladies Aid Society of St. Mary’s Russian Orthodox Church, Coaldale, in the social rooms of the church.

Mrs. Sachon was born in Austria and came to American at the age of 14, later marrying Alex Sachon.

She has lived in Coaldale for the past 51 years and is a member of the church and the ladies’ council.

She and her husband raised six children: Mrs. Joseph Cheslock of Philadelphia, Mrs. David Koch of Wilmington, Delaware, Mrs. John Tomasovich of Coaldale, and Michael Sachon of Allentown, as well as two sons who are deceased, Alex and Anthony.

The “Mother of the Year” was presented a corsage of carnations from Anna Shears, council president.
