State police at Lehighton - crashes
State police at the Lehighton barracks reported the following crashes:
• Nathan Hackett-Jacinthe, 32, of Lehighton, was injured in a one-vehicle crash at 9:50 p.m. May 6 on Pohopoco Drive, Towamensing Township.
Police said the severity of Hackett-Jacinthe’s injuries is unknown but that he did not require an emergency medical services transport from the scene.
He was driving a 2013 Mercedes-Benz E320 west when he swerved to avoid striking a deer that crossed the roadway in front of his car, police said. The car left the road and hit an embankment. It was towed from the scene.
Hackett-Jacinthe was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed, according to police.
• Christopher C. Galloway, 40, of New Ringgold, was uninjured in a one-vehicle crash at 2:14 a.m. May 8 on Interchange Road, Towamensing Township.
Police said he was operating a 2023 Freightliner Cascadia when he fell asleep and lost control of the rig. It traveled off the right side of the road, hit a utility pole and came to rest in a grassy area.
Police said the vehicle sustained disabling damage and was towed from the scene.
Galloway was cited after the crash, according to police.
State police at the Lehighton barracks reported the following accidents:
• Michelle M. Harleman, 43, of Jim Thorpe, was uninjured when the Jeep she was driving struck a deer on Route 903 in Penn Forest Township at 4:14 a.m. May 12.
Police said she was traveling south/west in a 2025 Jeep Compass in the area of Behrens Road when the incident occurred.
The Jeep had disabling damage and was towed from the scene.
• Austin D. Portz, 21, of Emmaus, was cited after a two-vehicle crash at 3:29 p.m. May 12 on Interchange Road, Polk Township. No one was injured in the incident.
Police said he was driving a 2012 Hyundai Tucson north and was approaching the intersection with Vixen Drive when he turned without clearance and the Tucson was struck by a 2023 Nissan Titan driven south on Interchange Road by Robert L. Vanderheyden, 56, of Kunkletown.
Police said both vehicles were towed from the scene.
