Monroe recognizes detective’s retirement in Monroe recognized

The Monroe County commissioners recognized the retirement of an officer in the District Attorney’s Office on May 6.

Eric Kerchner, who was a detective and chief county detective, retired from the office effective May 11.

Commissioner John Christy, chairman of the commissioners, presented Kerchner with a certificate at the board’s meeting on May 6. Kerchner had been with the office for 24 years.

“Congratulations and best wishes on your retirement from the Monroe County commissioners,” Christy said when he presented the certificate, and then joked about there being two certificates. “Just to let you know, that’s for you and the real one is behind for your wife.”

Kerchner said, “I appreciate the certificate. I appreciate the employees in the District Attorney’s Office and all the employees in Monroe County. Monroe County — I feel — was a great place to work. Great place to work for 24 years. Seems like much less; the time goes by extremely fast, for you guys, too. But thank you.”
